Game Highlights
AVYFA Kickoff Bowl at Boron
We participated in the AVYFA Kickoff Bowl on August 23, 2008 in Boron. Sixty-two teams from all thirteen AVYFA communities played scrimmages. Each team got to scrimmage with three or four other teams. We do not have pictures from all of the scrimmages. Pictures Here.

Our 2007 Super Bowl Juniors coached by John Trujillo, Ed Graef and Rick DeVore and lead by veteran Quarterback Jay Trujillo played a strong game against the RIM team. Jay advanced the ball to the one yard line and then jumped into the end zone on the next play for the first touchdown. He completed a pass to Nathan Liuag. War horse Ryan DeVore stopped RIM runs and ran around them to score two touchdowns on 70 plus yard runs. Alex Hamilton took in a point after. Every Junior contributed to a strong game. Final score, Mammoth 19, RIM 46.

The Juniors, looking for another Super Bowl slot, came out strong. Greg Oliver recovered a Mojave fumble. Ryan DeVore and Alex Hamilton behind great blocking moved the ball to the nine yard line and Ryan ran up the middle for the first touchdown. They kicked the point after to make it 8-0. Mammoth kept penetrating the Mojave line. Ricky Hamilton caught a Mojave punt for a good run back. Alex made a good gain, then Quarterback Jay Trujillo blasted through center for the second touchdown.
Jay intercepted a Mojave pass and then connected with his own pass to Nathan Liuag as the first quarter ended. Ricky blocked a Mojave pass and Mammoth took over on fourth down. Jay passed to Ricky for a gain, then Ryan scored on a 45 yard run making it 20-0 Mammoth at half time.
Coach John Trujillo opened the second half with Nathan Liuag at quarterback for some valuable experience. Matt Graef advanced the ball. Alex intercepted a Mojave pass to stop them. The teams battled back and forth with no scores in the second half. Final Score: Mammoth 20 - Mojave 0.

The Juniors started off with a 20 yard kickoff return by Cole Brosgart. Ryan DeVore moved the ball, breaking tackles and scoring the first touchdown. Alex Hamilton caught a Kern Valley punt and returned it 35 yards. Ryan went over right side for touchdown number two. Ryan stopped the KV kickoff return. Bryan Broyles and Pablo Apodaca got in the KV backfield and forced them to punt. Alex Hamilton moved the ball up the center. Quarterback Jay Trujillo passed to Jake Monnahan, then made a long run for the third touchdown. Matt Graef got into the KV backfield. Cole Brosgart intercepted a KV pass. 20-0 Mammoth at half time.
Nathan Liuag took over as quarterback and promptly intercepted a KV pass, than advanced the ball on a long run. Greg Oliver took in touchdown number four. KV scored. Ryan returned a KV punt 30 yards. Alex scored on a 36 yard run and Ryan kicked the point after. KV scored. Jay returned as quarterback and completed a pass to Ricky. Matt charged through center for the sixth touchdown. Final Score: Mammoth 42 - Kern Valley 20.

Ryan DeVore quickly scored on a 55 yard run. Bryan Broyles stopped the kickoff return. Nathan Liuag got in the Bishop back field. Alex Hamilton broke tackles to move the ball for first downs. Ryan intercepted a Bishop pass and ran 25 yards for a touchdown. Matt Graef and Nathan got in the Bishop back field holding them on the 20 yard line. Quarterback Jay Trujillo completed a pass to Nathan as he moved the team down the field. Ryan made a big gain to the 20 yard line as half time arrived. 12-0 Mammoth.
In the second half Bishop started moving the ball on pass play. Ricky Hamilton and his brother Alex made some good stops. Greg Oliver intercepted a Bishop pass and ran it back 50 yards to score. Alex took in the point after. Brallan Martinez got in the back field to stop the Broncos. Ryan continued to rack up first downs. Jay Trujillo completed passes to Alex, moving to the 10 yard line, then breaking tackles to score. Matt Graef stopped the kickoff return as Mammoth held Bishop. Alex sacked the Bishop quarterback. Final Score: Mammoth 25 - Bishop 0.

Lancaster @ Lancaster
The Juniors started off strong with a long run by Ryan DeVore to set up a touchdown by Alex Hamilton. Taking possession after recovering a Lancaster fumble, Quarterback Jay Trujillo openned a passing attack connecting with Alex and Jake Monnahan. Ryan picked up a first down then Jay connected with Nathan Liuag. Alex moved the ball on a 35 yard run and Ryan took in touchdown number two.
Alex completed a 45 yard run and Ryan carried the ball 25 yards for touchdown number three. Jay passed to Jake for the point after. Ricky Hamilton recovered a Lancaster fumble. Ryan ran 35 yards. Jay made a nice run and then connected with Alex to advance the ball. Jay passed to Ricky who ran 21 yards to score and Ryan took in the point after. Making it 30-0 Mammoth at half time.
Lancaster scored in the third quarter. The two teams battled back and forth. Greg Oliver sacked the Lancaster quarterback. Alex intercepted a Lancaster pass. Mammoth 30 - Lancaster 8.

First Round Playoff against Kern Valley at Mojave
WOW! Speed demon Ryan DeVore took the opening kickoff 75 yards down the sidelines to score the first of six Junior touchdowns. Ryan kicked the point after. Greg Oliver recovered a Kern Valley fumble. Alex Hamilton ran 35 yards for a first down. Quarterback Jay Trujillo passed to Jake Monnahan who ran in touchdown number two and Ryan kicked the extra point. Ryan broke tackles for a big gain, then ran 30 yards for the third touchdown. Jay connected again with Jake as the first quarter ended.
Nathan Liuag intercepted a Kern Valley pass. Nathan ran for a first down. Jay connected with Ricky Hamilton for a nine yard gain, then charged up center for a first down, then connected with Jake who ran 20 yards for the fourth touchdown. Alex broke tackles for a first down. Steven Orrick ran 30 yards for a touchdown and Alex ran in the point after to make it 35-0 Mammoth at halftime.
Matt Graef made a first down. Jay connected with Alex. Ryan ran 40 yards to score the final Huskie touchdown. Ryan made a 25 yard punt return, then a 30 yard first down. Bryan Broyles then made three charges through center to put the ball in the end zone but the touchdown was called back on a penalty. Ryan intercepted a Kern Valley pass and the game wrapped up. Final score: Mammoth 41 – Kern Valley 0
The Juniors advance to the Northern Conference Championships at Mammoth where they play California City.

Conference Championship against California City at Mammoth
Super Bowl Here We Come!! Ryan DeVore made a 30 yard run and Alex Hamilton took in the first touchdown. Ryan kicked the point after. Quarterback Jay Trujillo ran 75 yards to score the second touchdown, Ryan kicked the point after. Nathan Liuag intercepted a California City pass to stop their advance. Ryan ran 74 yards for the third touchdown and kicked the point after to make it 0-24 Mammoth at halftime.
Ryan intercepted a California City pass and ran it back 35 yards. Nathan Liuag ran 32 yards to the 7 yard line and Ryan ran in the fourth touchdown. Pablo Apodaca recovered a California City fumble. Ryan and Alex racked up more first downs. The defense kept California City out of the end zone in a great game on a sunny Mammoth afternoon.
Final score: Mammoth 30 – California City 0
